British-born couple, Tim and Candida Surgenor left their architectural and interior design careers in Australia in search of the famous Italian good life, ‘la dolce vita’. Working in Milan almost 20 years previous at the beginning of their careers left them dreaming of more.
Candida Surgenor started her design career in her home town of London with renowned luxury designers and property developers Candy&Candy.
Her experience developed with 10 years in Australia working on five-star hotels and luxury private residences for the top Australian design studio, Blainey North before moving to Italy to establish Studio Casatua, creating dream homes with Italian soul and modern international design standards.
Tim Surgenor worked as a lawyer in London before moving into property development and architectural management. With a lawyer’s eye for detail, Tim will make sure your property investment is safe, secure and developed to exceptional standards.

When we moved to Italy we spent more than a year looking for our dream house. We must have seen more than a hundred places. The architecture of Italy is second to none for beauty and history but the reality is the vast majority of places need serious renovation to be suitable for modern life.
We learnt a lot, sometimes the hard way, about the legal and cultural pitfalls of buying a house in the Italian market. Even with a background as a lawyer, Tim found the process a little, let’s say, ‘nerve racking’! Once we even had the seller return the deposit on a dream place after deciding not to sell!

Four years later and after experiencing multiple purchases and renovations all over Italy and Sicily we have an incredible team of designers, architects, lawyers and builders ready to build your dream home and life in Italy without the blood, sweat,tears and cultural chaos!
